Crystal Bowl Healing in Nepal

Arvind Shakya

Founder, Meditation Instructor and Sound Healing Trainer

After returning from the US with an MBA degree, I wanted to do something meaningful with my life. I landed up in the educational sector as I wanted to share my knowledge and expertise with the youths to make a positive impact in society.

I was also a person who used to often get lost in the middle of conversations. Feeling anxious before big projects only to ruin my sleep was another aspect I wanted to work on. Few incidents at work made me more anxious and panic at times. The cholesterol level and blood pressure were relatively high. Relationship breakup made the situation even worse. This was when I started working on self-care and personal development. I took on more challenging tasks at work to grow and explore my potential.

During the self-build-up process, I came across a book, “Meeting with the Dhamma Master” that inspired me to know more about meditation. More than ever, I wanted clarity on my life’s purpose. Even though I had a good job loved by the people around me, I somehow felt something wasn’t working right.

To find the missing link in my life, in December 2018, I decided to join a monk ordination program in Thailand to explore myself. I wanted to improve myself on having more focus, be more resilient to stress, and heal past wounds. During the monkhood period, the wisdom I received from the top Buddhist monks was enlightening as I learned how to handle my thoughts and emotions to my advantage.

This was the turning point!

After I came back to Nepal, I found out a lot of positive changes in my daily life. My relationship with my Dad improves significantly which was cold earlier. I could feel the difference while interacting with friends, coworkers, and students as I started developing observing skills. The teachings learned were certainly making my relation at home and work better. I soon realized that I need to teach wisdom to others as well.

Hence Lotus rose. (The place where I ordained in Thailand was called “Pathum Thani” which means Lotus Land and Arvind in Sanskrit means Lotus.)

Just like how a lotus starts rooted deep in dirt and makes its way through the murky water until it finally emerges and blossoms pure, beautiful, and whole, Lotus was established to help people rise pure from defilements such as greed, anger, and ignorance. That would eventually lead to being more calm, conscious, and compassionate. Through mindfulness practice, Lotus center strives to build a community that becomes aware and mindful of one’s thoughts, speech, and action.

At Lotus, we look forward to helping you learn, heal and grow to be a better person. Please check our services section to find out more about how we can assist you.

Mr. Shakya has also stayed as Bafacha (monk) at the Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna MahaVihar, Patan) . He is also Teaching Faculty at Presidential Business School and Kathmandu Don Bosco College with Organizational Behavior and Leadership as his core subject. Besides, he is also a member of Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (NYEF) Lalitpur Chapter.

Akshamsha Adhikari

Head of Operations/Sound Healing Trainer

While exploring and obtaining the solutions, I started to look for my life’s purpose as I questioned who I was. In 2019, I went to Wat Phra Dhammakaya in Pathumthani, Thailand to become a monk. Even after becoming a monk and living a monk’s life, I still had many unanswered questions. I also joined Middle Way Meditation Institute, New York, USA, and obtained my certification as an inner peace mentor after spending some time learning meditation and mindfulness. I was first introduced to the singing bowl in Kathmandu. I was able to meditate and discover serenity and calmness thanks to the singing bowl’s sound. The singing bowl assisted me to obtain peace I was seeking after my experience left me with so many unanswered questions. I began my work at Lotus Mindful alongside Mr. Arvind Shakya on operation and also service. Being a student and teacher of travel, tourism, mountaineering, and hospitality as well as a sound healing apprentice. I’m finding joy with meditation, nature and the sound of singing bowls.
